From lifeguard to swim school founder
- Age 16
Starts as a part-time lifeguard.
- Age 17
Takes his swim instructor certification.
- Age 18
Becomes a swim coach, teaching across several swim schools. A class of five children is worth around $1,000 to the school; he takes home $50 for the hour.
- The wall
He wants his own students, but nobody knows his name. He has the skill and no way to bring people in. Working that out takes years of trial and error.
- 2015
Founds Swimwerks. What starts as Herron coaching his own students grows into a school built on coach development and bringing students in.
- Today
Hundreds of swim teachers trained and more than 4,000 students taught. Over the years we’ve spent more than $100,000 on advertising to learn what brings students in, and that system now brings students to our new coaches.
